DOBSON TELEPHONE COMPANY, MCLOUD DIVISION PROVIDES COMMUNITY SERVICE
MCLOUD,OK – JUNE 1, 2009 – Eight employees of Dobson Telephone Company, McLoud Division recently volunteered their time working on the Ferrell Building currently under restoration by the McLoud Chamber of Commerce. Once completed, the building will serve as a new Chamber Office and Community Center for McLoud. The employee’s assisted in the demolitions of existing lath and plastered walls as well as performing general clean-up. This work helped pave the way for the next phase of the project, the electrical and insulation work.
About the building:
The McLoud Chamber of Commerce, McLoud Public Schools, City of McLoud and the McLoud Historical Society have combined efforts to preserve memories with the restoration of the last of the early days school buildings: The Home Economics Cottage.
The building had to be moved from it’s location on school grounds to make room for a new early childhood development center. To avoid destruction the above groups joined forces and have begun efforts to renovate the building taking it back as close as possible to it’s original appearance. For additional information on restoration efforts please visit the McLoud Chamber of Commerce web site at www.mcloudchamber.com.
