Management Team

James R. Rutherford, President

Rutherford has served as President of Dobson Telephone Company, Inc., since March 1998. Mr. Rutherford has been employed by Dobson Telephone and its subsidiaries since 1987 and has worked in various capacities, including manager and coordinator of contract engineering and construction, outside plant manager, general manager, and assisted in the start up and development of our ICP operations. Prior to joining Dobson Telephone, Mr. Rutherford was employed for ten years by C.H. Guernsey & Co., a telecommunications engineering firm. During this tenure, Mr. Rutherford’s primary responsibilities were in the departments of outside plant engineering and design and project coordination. He serves as a director of the Oklahoma High Cost Fund Board and previously served as a director of the Oklahoma Telephone Association. He is also actively involved in the Western Rural Telephone Association industry organizations and serves on the Oklahoma Rural Telephone Companies technical and regulatory committees.

 

Dean Hill, General Manager

Hill, a lifelong resident of McLoud, has been an employee of McLoud Telephone Company since Jan. 1983. He has an extensive background in the technical, engineering and management aspects of telecommunications. Hill was promoted to General Manager in Jan. 1999. As part of his responsibilities, he manages the day-to-day operations for McLoud, Newalla and Cheyenne divisions. Dean has an Associates Degree in Business.

 

Donna Wynn, Assistant General Manager

Wynn joined Dobson Telephone in June 1990 as a customer service representative. In December 1997, she was promoted to Director of Customer Service. In January 1999, she assumed the Assistant General Manager position. She provides assistance and direction to the McLoud and Dobson business offices.

 

Dewayne Coker, Operations Manager

Coker began his career with Dobson Telephone in January 1978 in the construction department. In 1998, Dewayne was promoted to Operations Manager. Dewayne assists in the strategic planning and network upgrades at McLoud and Dobson Telephone. He has served in installation and repair, and in the central office. Coker currently directs 18 employees serving the rural communities of Cheyenne, Vici, Taloga, Leedey, Erick, Reydon, Camargo, Roger Mills County and Sweetwater.

 

Darren Steward, Engineer/Plant Manager

Steward joined Dobson Telephone in April 1990 as part of the construction crew. He moved into Dobson network management, where he performed 24-hour monitoring and troubleshooting support for various entities and later moved to the position of outside plant engineer. His experience with the different aspects of company operations has provided him with a versatile knowledge of the outside plant environment.
